5 mins away is the closest beach of Puerto Portals. There is 250 metres of fine golden sand to enjoy, with clear blue seas and an island in the middle of the bay to swim to should the mood take you. You can hire sun loungers and parasols, and there are showers and toilets. Life guards are on duty and there is some access for the disabled. There's a small beach bar on the sand and an area set aside for volleyball. The best thing about this beach is the wonderful Roxy's Beach Bar, at the end of the beach on a small rocky platform. It's a casual, friendly place with great views of the bay and the Puerto Portals marina beyond. With chill-out tunes and cocktails (try their special house sangria) it has that Ibiza-esque feel which makes it very popular with Mallorca's international crowd. It's open from 10am to 10pm and serves light snacks throughout the day. The location of the beach is second to none, with all the wonderful restaurants and bars in Puerto Portals a few minutes walk away (car parking is available at Portals, or in the town of Portal Nous above the beach). Access from Portals Nous is down a small lane (that leads to the church) and then down some steps.
The villa is situated a convenient 20 minutes away by car from the airport and 10 minutes to the centre of Palma by car. There is also a bus route 10 minutes walk from the villa.
Puerto Portals is the very smart marina attached to the town of Portal Nous. Come here for glamorous shopping, fascinating people watching, expensive drinking, and of course, the flashy boats moored in the marina. It's a real international place - think of a smaller Monte Carlo and you're nearly there. Portal Nous sits above the rather more glamorous Puerto Portals, but it is a pleasant enough resort in its own right. It's popular with British second home owners, probably because of its proximity to Palma and its location on the south west coast. The town has many amenities including banks, doctors, supermarket, bars and restaurants and a marine park. Costa d'en Blanes is situated on a hill above the port and has 24hr security entry making it not only a fantastic villa location but also a safe one.
